An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the existing nursing team within the Surgical Services Business Unit.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Senior Nurse to join us in working as part of the orthopaedic nursing team. Ward 14 is a 25 bedded ward specialising in Trauma and Orthopaedics.

The post holder will work as part of the team, providing high quality care to patients’ pre and postoperatively as well as supporting and facilitating the pathway for patients and their families. An integral part of the role involves working in collaboration with colleagues within the MDT, Clinical Nurse Specialists within both the Business Unit and across the Trust.

The successful applicant will need to meet the essential following criteria:

  • RN with current NMC Registration
  • A degree in nursing in health related subject

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience at band 6.

  • Facilitating learning and assessment in practice qualification or equivalent.

  • Understanding of pre-registration curriculum

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

  • Experience of effectively managing people and resources.

  • Substantial competence/experience in care delivery

  • Experience of change management

  • Evidence of involvement in innovation in clinical practice/service development.

  • Experience of involvement in audit

  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Mentorship/Coaching skills

  • Strong leadership and team working skills.

  • Ability to assess and benchmark quality care

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.

  • Expert knowledge, clinical skills and experience in the area of practice.

  • Thorough understanding of contemporary nursing issues.

  • Work as part of MDT.

  • Management skills.

  • IT skills/knowledge appropriate to the role
