Senior Visitor Experience Officer

What it's like to work here

The 70-strong team at this spectacular Victorian gothic house have ambitious plans for growth over the next few years. Tyntesfield’s excellent location just outside of Bristol means there is great scope to develop the visitor experience to this vast estate, and the team are encouraged to be forward thinking and creative in their approach. There is a strong sustainability focus at the property with working kitchen gardens that produce delicious produce for the café and restaurant.

What you'll be doing

You'll work with the Visitor Experience Manager and the visitor services team, to ensure every aspect of the visitor experience is shaped by our spirit of place and delivers an exceptional experience to everyone every time. Your role will play a key part in the success of an exciting program of events at Tyntesfield, which will surprise and delight each season for our regular visitors and locals, and our first time visitors to enjoy. You'll also deliver a programme of ongoing events to inspire our occasional visitors, working with teams from across the estate to let the spirit of place shine through to everyone; whether a fun filled trail through the historic plantations or a Victorian themed weekend.

With our impressive collections, inspiring landscapes and centuries of history, there’s everything here to fire your imagination, to create events and deliver outstanding interpretation, creating a programme for our visitors that will inspire and intrigue them every time. As part of the Visitor Experience team, you’ll work with the house and outdoors teams to understand our spirit of place, ensuring high standards of presentation and service are maintained along every step of the visitor journey.

Who we're looking for

This job is all about providing a service. To be fantastic in this role, you’ll need to;

  • Experience of delivering inspirational engagement activities
  • Have good people skills, enabling good working relationships with those in your team and across the property
  • Understanding of how to interpret significant collections to varied audiences.
  • Excellent organisational skills, and the ability to time manage projects successfully
  • Have good interpersonal skills, able to deal with visitors in a variety of situations
  • Have a flexible customer focused approach with experience in delivering high standards of customer service
  • Experience of working with and supervising volunteers
  • Empathy with aims of the National Trust, with genuine interest and knowledge of the work of the Trust
