We have a fantastic opportunity for a Skilled Workshop Technician to work along side the mechanics and materials department.

Working closely with research and teaching staff as part of the technical team that provides key support and
guidance in both research and teaching, the main responsibilities of the post will include advising and guiding
students on research techniques and maintaining and operating research and/or teaching equipment/apparatus.
You should have a sound engineering skills background, have completed an engineering apprenticeship and be
fully familiar with a wide range of workshop machinery and techniques. Experience with variety of testing
machinery, e.g. Instron and Wavemaker software would be a considerable advantage, although training will be
The successful applicant should be educated to A level and have completed a recognised apprenticeship in
mechanical engineering. They should also have sound IT and communication skills.
