Role Overview

The purpose of the Senior Technical Consultant role is to provide the organisations clients with the successful implementation of their chosen technology and deliver first class consultancy going forward. The role is multi-faceted with the consultant providing on site and remote assistance to clients with delivery of projects installing, testing and deploying the chosen solution and design. When not engaged on new opportunities, you'll be working with the managed services team to improve the service offered to customers and act as a point of escalation for technical issues.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Sales Support

  • provides pre-sales support to the sales team, solutions, drafts detailed response documents, attends sales presentations
  • contributes to sales strategy around capabilities and services and assists the sales team
  • understand and position the organisations services within the required framework; ensures that reliable cost, effort and risk estimates and project plans are produced

Relationship Management

  • develops and maintains one or more defined communication channels and/or stakeholder groups, acting as a single point of contact
  • gathers information from the customer to understand their needs (demand management) and detailed requirements
  • maintains contact with the customer and stakeholders throughout to ensure satisfaction; captures and disseminates technical and business information


  • actively monitors for, and seeks, opportunities, new methods and trends in IT capabilities and products to the advancement of the organisation
  • clearly articulates, and formally reports their benefits
  • looks for way to improve the support services we offered to customers


  • takes responsibility for understanding client requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution; identifies, evaluates and recommends options, implementing if required;
  • maintains solution ownership and the consulting relationship through solution delivery and beyond;
  • provide hands on functional and technical knowledge as well as manage client relationships within the context of the role;

Technical Escalation

  • when not engaged on sales opportunities, acts as a point of escalation for technical issues for SMB customers
  • reviews incidents and problems with a view to improving our support offerings by way of automation

Essential Experience

  • Excellent project management, communication and problem-solving skills are needed
  • Candidate should be a strong team player yet a motivated self-starter
  • Flexibility and preparedness to travel and work onsite with customers to support delivery and sales efforts;
  • Fundamental understanding of managed services to assist with the identification of opportunity and the realisation of that opportunity in terms of scalable business development
  • Excellent personal management skills including the ability to multi-task and prioritise competing demands;

  • Windows Server - 2012 & 2016
  • Server Virtualisation - VMWare, Hyper-V
  • Active Directory
  • Messaging - Exchange, Office 365
  • Storage
  • Windows 10
  • SQL Server
  • Microsoft RDS

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum GCSE Grade C Mathematics & English
  • Degree ideally in Business Studies or Information Technology
  • Relevant professional industry accreditations in the specialist fields: Networking, Storage, Virtualisation, Security and with the relevant bodies/vendors
