We are pleased to announce this exciting, though challenging opportunity and currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join one of Break’s children’s homes in March as a senior support worker. The home is a four-bedded provision for young people with emotional and behavioral difficulties who will be cared for by experienced and well trained staff using therapeutic approaches with tailor-made care packages meeting young people’s specific needs.
Break Charity has a tremendous record for providing a nurturing, stable home environment for Looked After Children and supporting them through to adulthood
•To assist the management team to support, direct and utilise staff and resources on-shift in order to ensure that the home achieves its strategic aims.
•To support the management team to ensure that all of the home’s activities are focused on maximising positive outcomes for our service-users.
•To support the manager ensuring that that service is compliant with the regulations and play a key role in the Improving for Excellence agenda.
•To embed a culture of improving the outcomes for young people and support the use of outcome measurement tools within the team.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a professional, therapeutic, caring and calm approach, able to think creatively and act as a positive role model. They must be able to work as part of the management team to develop all areas of practice and overall contribute to positive outcomes for children and young people and ensure a high standard of care. This challenging work requires energy and resilience and the candidate needs extensive understanding of working with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Previous experience of working in this sector is essential. The ideal candidate should hold or be working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or equivalent. The ability to work a 38 hour rota/shift pattern including nights and weekends is a further requirement for this position (£37 paid per sleep-in duty). You will also be expected to be part of the ‘on call’ rota for the home.
Hours: 38 per week
Salary: The current salary scale for this post is £21,330 - £22,453 (Maximum job rate potential is £23,575, which is performance related) per annum depending on experience and qualifications.
