Senior Staff Nurse Cancer Services

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 nurse who will strive for high standards of patient care to join our team of highly professional cancer nurses. The role will include working in the Hurstwood Park Haematology/Oncology day unit and outpatient clinics, as well as Consultant and Nurse led clinics. We would like someone who is passionate about service development as the post will be pivotal in the support and development of the unit at Princess Royal hospital and building relationships with the established cancer centre in Brighton.

The post requires that you have skills including venepuncture, cannulation, central line care and a good understanding of the management of patients in an outpatient setting. You will have a sound knowledge of oncology and/or haematology as well as the knowledge and skills required to safely manage patients receiving systemic anti-cancer therapies.

In return you will be supported to further enhance both your clinical and leadership skills and given opportunities for professional development within a progressive team, where your nursing skills will be highly valued by patients, their families and the multi-disciplinary team.

You will need to have:

  • Experience in cancer nursing.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and management skills.
  • Mentorship or equivalent
  • Haematology or Oncology pathway or equivalent post registration qualification in cancer care (essential)
  • Intravenous cytotoxic administration skills(essential)
  • Cannulation, Venepuncture skills (essential)
