POST:                         Band 7 Senior Sister/ Specialist Nurse

                                   Part time 17.25hrs

LOCATION:                Acute Care Team, Critical Care

We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic and professional Registered Nurse Specialist to join the Acute Care Team, at band 7. The post holder will provide Clinical expertise, leadership and expertise in all aspects of service delivery.

The ACT are a specialist nursing team that deliver expert care, skills and advice to support staff working across the trust caring for patients with acute pain or those at risk of deterioration or requiring advanced clinical skills.

As a Band 7 working in the ACT you will need to:

  • Work as expert clinical practitioner for the specialist needs of the patients on the ward, demonstrating a sound knowledge of issues relating to the acutely ill patient.
  • The post-holder will be aware of budget restraints and the need to maintain financial balance.
  • Provide specialist nursing advice and psychological support to patients, carers, and health care professionals.
  • As a senior nurse, contribute to service development, audit and research projects and helps develop educational packages.

At night the role is of senior nurse on duty for the trust, you will provide senior clinical input and maintain an overview of patient flow and capacity through feedback from the ED, MAU and SAU co-ordinator’s in order to maintain the ED target. You will also manage and triage work load for the Acute Care Team nurses and the Junior Doctors. With responsibility for the site you will be expected to liaise with the on-call manager, security and other agencies as required.  You will be supported in delivering our goals and values by close working relationships with the multi-disciplinary team including our consultant leads.
