I am working in partnership with a Global Organisation who are looking to continue their 2018 recruitment drive by hiring experienced Senior Software Engineers. They operate in the Financial Services and Banking space, with these roles focusing on greenfield product development on some state of the art corporate payment platforms. This recruitment drive is aimed at increasing the level of service they can provide to their customers so these roles are therefore pretty business-critical as you can probably imagine!
Based out of their Fleet office, you will be tasked with working across the full Software Development Lifecycle with core focuses on the Java technology stack. They utilise a wide range of technologies (Java, Spring, C++, C#, Angular, React) but the main focus of these roles will be core back end engineering.
Due to the nature of the roles (i.e. product development), there will be an enormous emphasis on code quality and engineering standards. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be expected to be a shining example of that (no pressure!), mentoring and coaching the more Junior Engineers whilst ensuring you create clean and scalable code at all times. The role will involve working with a range of development processes and methodologies including Test Driven Development (TDD), DevOps, Continious Integration and Continuous Deployment. Moreover, there will be an overriding focus on Agile/Scrum so any commercial experience working within an Agile development practice would be a huge boost to your application.
In terms of specific requirements, they would ideally like any applicants to demonstrate knowledge and experience of the following:
- Strong programming skills in Java and/or C++
- Experience of the wider Java technology stack including Spring, Hibernate, Struts, JSP and JBoss.
- Commercial experience with SQL and/or Oracle database technologies.
- Experience incorporating automated build, test and deployment processes.
- Commercial experience working in an Agile development environment (any experience acting as a Scrum Master would be of huge benefit).
- Experience with DevOps technologies - i.e. Docker, Kubernetes etc.
- Experience with either Windows or Linux OS.
Moving away from the technical requirements, and partly due to the relatively rural location, it is important to stress that this role doesn't just demand, demand, demand. Rather, this organisation does actually understand that life comes first so they offer flexible working hours and the opportunity to work from home a day or two per week. Moreover, they offer a highly competitive pension (10% non-contributory), a generous annual bonus and 25 days holiday.
So if you've read this ad and feel this is something worth applying for then give me a shout.
You can call me on either or . Alternatively, you can send me an email to or just drop me a message on LinkedIn by searching for 'Liam Haghighat' (its no surprise that I am pretty easy to find!).
Anything discussed will remain completely confidential.
