On behalf of my client, a well-known organisation in Newcastle, I’m on the lookout for a Senior Developer to join their impressive development team, based in the city centre.

You’ll be joining the team responsible for creating and supporting the company’s core applications on IBM I and Windows Servers.
They work collaboratively in an ASP.NET, WCF and SQL Server environment, which offers a great opportunity to bring existing experience to the team, and learn new skills. You’ll get involved in system documentation and analysis, as well as design and occasional team leadership as you progress in the role.

To do well in this position, you must have a solid understanding of SOA concepts, and be able to demonstrate your experience in IBM I, RPG IV, RPG III, and ILE, as well as your ability to work with TFS. 4 years’ commercial experience is a minimum requirement, and a good understanding of ITIL is beneficial. It will be even better if you’ve already worked on secure online systems.

The first stage of the process is a remote technical test involving pseudo code and some reasoning/numerical questions. On successful completion of this test you will have an initial phone call with the hiring manager to find out more about the position and give an introduction to your experience. The final stage is a face to face interview with the development manager and member of HR/recruitment.
The whole process is expected to last a maximum of 2 weeks from initial application to job offer stage.
