Senior Sister/Charge Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen and we are currently looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated senior sister or charge nurse to work within our community wards at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals (SWBH) NHS Trust.

The community wards sit in the iBEDS Directorate of the Primary Care Community and Therapies (PCC&T) Group based at Rowley Regis Hospital and City Hospital and specialise in intermediate care and discharge of our medically fit for discharge patients.

Intermediate care and high quality discharge planning within iBEDS at SWBH is currently undergoing huge changes in preparation of our move to the Midland Metropolitan Hospital in 2022 with many new and exciting ways of working and discharge pathways.

All of the community wards are nurse led and we have a dedicated MDT on all 6 wards, working alongside physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, pharmacists and general practitioners to name a few.

We admit patients directly from their own homes to support our hospital admission avoidance pathways, and also from the acute hospital sites and other Trusts.

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake training, complete competencies successfully and keep their practice up to date. We offer extended role opportunities and encourage staff to fulfil their potential. The candidate is expected to work flexibly and offer assistance across the community bed base.

The ward offers a supportive and learning environment, which endeavors to constantly develop the service, in order to ensure its patients can receive the highest quality and most up to date care.

You will need a high level of self-awareness and be dedicated in improving patient care.
