We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join a leading company working within the water industry. You will be responsible for analysing routine and non-routine samples to UKAS requirements and within appropriate timescales.
*Perform routine & non-routine chemical analysis of water samples in accordance with documented procedures
*Take appropriate action when samples fail to meet the required water quality standards or other agreed notification standards.
*Enter analytical results in a timely manner using the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
*Lead technical projects and effectively delegate work to junior scientists.
*Participate in internal and external training courses identified as appropriate to your continued development.
*Maintain accurate CPD records.
*Undertake any reasonable duties within the laboratory that may be required from time to time.
*Comply with all relevant Health and Safety procedures at all times.
*You must have a good understanding of water chemistry with a recognised degree in a science based subject, preferably Chemistry.
*It is essential to have a strong background within the water supply industry - carrying out analysis on samples based in a commercial laboratory.
*You are an individual with attention to detail that enjoys working as part of a team.
*Possess working experience in an analytical chemistry environment using ICP-MS and IC.
*You will demonstrate a working knowledge of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations in relation to chemistry.
*You will have a good level of computer literacy.
*You will demonstrate the ability to conduct routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and troubleshoot instrumentation problems, where appropriate.
*You will demonstrate an understanding of method development and validation.
*You will have an understanding of health and safety procedures, including COSHH and risk assessments.
Salary and package offered dependent upon level of skills and expertise, £25k-£30k + excellent company benefits.
