Macfarlane Group PLC is the UK’s largest packaging distributor and at our two key manufacturing sites we design & produce a range of bespoke protective packaging to protect customer’s high value and fragile items. We are urgently seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Production Planner to work at our Grantham Manufacturing site. The role will be reporting to the Operations Manager and shall require the individual to become an ‘expert’ user of our MRP/ERP systems. You will be responsible for efficient resource & capacity planning whilst working to KPIs, producing relevant reports and constantly communicating with all key stakeholders across the site to ensure the ongoing effective prioritisation & scheduling of work.
Whilst not perhaps a fully exhaustive list, the core focus of this role will concentrate on the following…
- Developing an expert knowledge of the MRP systems (able to become a ‘super-user’)
- Resource/capacity planning
- Generating reports
- Creation of ‘Work To’ lists & work orders
- Liaison with various departments including sales, production, transport
- Maintain KPI’s
- Reporting on performance
- Prioritising & Scheduling of work
- Monitor & merge production efficiencies
- Working & contributing towards creation of internal SLAs
Do you have the correct profile?
In order to apply for this role you must be able to demonstrate relevant experience of having worked as a Production Planner within a similar manufacturing environment. Exposure to all or the majority of the above responsibilities would be preferable. Experience of having worked within a similar ‘SME’ size manufacturing operation would be advantageous, as would some previous involvement with purchasing (not essential though). Applicants must reside within a sensible commute of our Grantham site (although we also welcome applications from ‘genuine’ relocaters).
