This City law firm has been established for over 150 years, and provides legal services throughout England and Wales. The firm is particularly reputed for its work with charities and housing associations, however acts for a range of clients including private and public companies, funders, regulators, and local authorities. The firm is full service, but specialises in Real Estate & Projects, Banking, Corporate/Commercial, Litigation, Housing and Employment. The firm has expanded significantly and now employs over 240 people across three locations in England.
Your new role
The Real Estate team plays a core part in the firm's business. The team has six dedicated partners who work on a range of property transactions with a variety of clients, from registered providers of social housing, through to private developers. They act on sites and developments, working from a handful of units to thousands, to portfolio and street property acquisitions and disposals. Your role will specialise in a range of key areas, from undertaking sales and purchases of street properties, to undertaking residential lease extensions acting for both tenants and landlords, and also assisting in tenanted portfolio sales and purchases. You will directly support a partner in the team, whilst also assisting with the management and development of junior fee earners.
You will receive fantastic exposure to a broad range of Property work, ranging from residential conveyancing transactions to large PFI projects. A breakdown of your key responsibilities includes: street property acquisition and sales, lease extensions, and auction disposals. You will manage your own caseload and assist the partner and other fee earners in the administration of files. You will undertake Land registration formalities, complete SDLT returns, draft reports on title, report on key documents, and review and report on titles for portfolio acquisitions. You will also deal with land transfers (TR1 and TP1), deeds of easements and sectional agreements. You will deal with enquiries and chase paperwork when necessary, and provide clients with monthly invoices and progress reports. You will organise and maintain tidy and accurate files both in hard copy and electronically, and will manage a high number of deadlines.
What you'll need to succeed
You have strong academics, and have secured a 2.1 in your LLB ideally. You have approximately 12 months of experience in a property role, and you have solid drafting skills. You possess strong administration and organisation skills, have a methodical approach, and are client focused with a professional manner and excellent communication skills. You can work with limited supervision, are commercially astute, and have a flexible approach. You are competent in all MS applications.
