Senior Occupational Therapist
Caritas Mind are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) to support the ward in delivering therapeutic care and appropriate vocational activity to the service users.
The Hospital specialises in providing secure services for women and men with mental illnesses and/or personality disorders including both medium and low secure care environments.
About the Role
The successful occupational therapist will be working on a ward that provides an intensive, year-long programme of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). You will take part in the therapeutic agenda by facilitating the group programme, delivering DBT skills coaching to service users and maintaining the behavioural milieu of the unit.
Training and development in Personality Disorder and DBT is offered along with on-going consultative support from the Ward Psychologist, Ward Manager and Consultant Psychiatrist to ensure the whole team acquire skills and understanding of relevant therapeutic principles required for working with this population.
This role would suit a reliable, committed, forward-thinking individual with a passion for working in a psychologically-minded environment. It would be especially appropriate for those seeking to develop psychotherapeutic skills. As this role is to support service users with complex mental health difficulties, successful candidates would gain insight into working with a range of mental health issues.
To be successful as an Occupational therapist, you’ll need:
An accredited post-graduate qualification in Occupational Therapy
Registration with the Health Care Professions Council
Experience of working within a forensic environment
