Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £50k-£60k + Car Allowance

Location: Handforth

Our client is a Managed Services Provider who provide a wide range of IT services that include Private & Public Cloud Services. We are looking to add a Senior Network Consultant / Network Security Specialist to our current Managed Services team.

The role is to work within the Managed Services division and will be required to manage, maintain and support the communications, security and all network related aspects of the Data Centres and associated services which they provide.

The role will be the lead for Network Security and provide a senior escalation point for all Network related issues within our clients business and with their Customers. The role will champion IT Security and help ensure that all Network Design elements follow the 'by design and by default’ approach for data protection.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the owner and technical lead for all aspects of Network Design, Support & Security within the business.
  • Dedicated support to business customers with managed hardware, including high-end business grade routers and firewalls.
  • Build and deployment of managed hardware for customer solutions
  • Network implementation, configuration and support (including internal and external networking considerations)
  • Assist with escalation and troubleshooting of support tickets
  • Configuration and maintenance of deployed network devices
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical faults with network devices
  • Technical consultancy regarding changes to existing network & security related products
  • Assist customers to accurately complete configuration forms
  • Build and test new managed hardware devices
  • LAN/WAN - configuration and support
  • Working with multiple third party network providers and equipment vendors to ensure all Network Equipment is appropriately maintained
  • Writing technical design documentation for hosting infrastructure and associated technologies.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

The following skills are essential:

  • Extensive experience of support and provisioning of routers, switches and firewalls in a similar role
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent level of knowledge
  • Juniper expertise and qualifications for Routing, switching and firewalling
  • Demonstrable and proven analytical and problem solving ability to be able to work in a challenging and fast paced Service Provider environment
  • ISP interconnectivity and BGP design and support
  • Multi Data Centre exposure and experience
  • Juniper / Cisco / WatchGuard / Fortinet
  • Configuring VPNs
  • Experience in working with multiple third party network providers and equipment vendors

  • A keen interest in computer networking and WAN technology
  • Flexible and willing to work outside core business hours as required
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Self-motivated, Very good team player, energetic with high analytic and technical problem solving skills, willing to put extra effort and go extra mile when situation demands.
  • Ability to work flexibly to support a true 24*7 architecture

Preferable:

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent level of knowledge
  • Current Juniper qualifications
  • Certified Ethical Hacker qualifications
  • Exposure to other hardware vendors

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and able to work autonomously where required and as part of a team.

There could be a requirement to travel between Customer locations and in some instances to visit Customer sites to help with Network and Security Design or Network related service on boarding activities.
