Job Title: Senior Mortgage Manager

Location: Saffron Walden (work from home 2-3 days a week)

Salary: Basic salary of up to £60,000

Contract type: 12-month fixed term contract

Hours: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm

About the role of Senior Mortgage Manager

We have a unique opportunity for an influential People Manager to join our client on a 12-month fixed term contract and support in leading and developing the Mortgage Servicing, Processing and Retentions teams to deliver a Best-in-Class mortgage processing service to mortgage applicants and brokers. The successful applicant will be responsible for management of the team to deliver high standards of customer service, achieve SLA's, Right First Time, and team targets/objectives as agreed by the Executive and within defined budgets, timescales and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

The successful Senior Mortgage Manager will need to have outstanding people management skills and excellent understanding of the full mortgage lending cycle. The primary focus of this role is to lead, inspire and motivate a team while ensuring engagement, productivity and customer satisfaction is high on the agenda.

Responsibilities for the role of Senior Mortgage Manager

  • Executing management responsibilities effectively, working with, leading and acting as a role model for the team.
  • Manage resources to achieve targets and objectives consistent with budgets.
  • Manage the flow of work within the teams and to maintain awareness of individual and overall team workloads, strive to exceed SLA's, enquiries are resolved at first point of contact, providing support and assisting team members.
  • Maintain team awareness of regulatory, legal & market trends, company standards, Money Laundering requirements, policy and procedure and all aspects of regulatory compliance.
  • Comply with all relevant company manuals & regulatory obligations.
  • Responsible for the team's processing of mortgage applications and administration of mortgage accounts using the internal system and taking them through the full lifecycle of the mortgage, from receipt of application, to completion and subsequent redemption, delivering exceptional Customer Service Standards including keeping the customer and/or Broker informed of any delays or issues.
  • Enhance the companies image, treating each customer in accordance with defined standards, maximising customer satisfaction by ensuing that customer need are matched to services on offer wherever possible
  • Lead, motivate, coach and counsel direct reports (and through them any indirect reports) to achieve highest possible performance standards (quality/productivity).
  • Identify and act on training and development needs.
  • Create and communicate clear objectives and standards for all direct and any indirect reports.
  • Responsible for performing monthly quality assurance on each team member and documenting the results.
  • Responsible for daily, weekly & monthly reporting, reporting of performance and any issues in relation to the team.
  • Accountable for carrying out and recording regular one to one's to support team performance & development.
  • Take full responsibility for any complaints arising from team members actions. Provide constructive feedback & development to individuals as necessary.
  • Assist in the development of operational activity in the team to achieve SLA's and customer service standards at all times.
  • Accountable for supporting team members with complex cases, identify and address training & development needs.
  • Develop & maintain effective relationships with team members and members of other teams.
  • Ensure internal customers are treated to the same standard & requirements as external customers.

Experience required for the role of Senior Mortgage Manager

  • Proven people management experience is essential.
  • Experience of working for a mortgage lender is essential.
  • Must have excellent knowledge and understanding of the full mortgage lending cycle.
  • Good level of understanding of mortgage lending regulation and the mortgage market.
  • Excellent people management skills and experience.
  • Ability to coach and develop team members.
  • Proven experience of mentoring and coaching new team members.
  • Excellent Communication and written skills.
