Proactive are currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a leading organisation on a permanent basis in Luton.
As Senior Mechanical Engineer your responsibilities will include:
To implement effective, comprehensive maintenance services to the Airport. To ensure that all operational requirements are met in a safe, cost effective and timely manner. To advise and appraise on optimum use of existing and future Direct Employed Labour ( DEL) and Contractor Employed Labour (CEL) resources in areas of asset stewardship.
Ensure that the minimum integrity standards of the Mechanical asset base are exceeded and that the infrastructure capacity is effectively planned and everything works when it needs to.
Manage all statutory compliance requirements, including, H&S, legionella management, gas management, Heating & Ventilation systems and lift inspections etc.
Produce a variety of data relating to the management & performance of the Mechanical services, using a variety of diverse software packages. This includes both financial & operational performance indicators.
Carry out continual assurance checks on plant, operational systems, DEL and CEL staff
Manages the strategic performance of mechanical assets thereby, ensuring that the correct level of maintenance is being undertaken to give the levels of service required by the asset owned; within an agreed budget.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Manage the design, selection, installation, test and commissioning and maintenance of LLAO's portfolio of Mechanical services. This includes both airside and landside areas.
Mechanical services includes: -
Building Management Systems
Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems.
Electricity Supply Regulations
Good understanding of H&S legislation including Construction, Design Management Regulations.
Provide expert advice/guidance to the business on all matters relating to the selection and maintenance of Mechanical plant
Management of LLAO records systems and procedures across the site. Warn of possible issues & deadlines, system condition and suggest & implement process performance improvements as necessary to ensure statutory compliance.
Compliance with LLAO's legionella management plan.
Compliance with LLAO gas management plan.
Compliance with H&S
Works Authorisation and Permit issuer
Authorised Person for confined spaces and hot works and Authorising Officer for general work permits.
To advise on financial estimates and consequences for all work, evaluate costs and materials to ensure budgetary balance and control of stock levels as previously agreed.
To advise and undertake any specific projects relevant to individual experience as required, relating to maintenance processes, operations and/or equipment. Ensure compatibility and knowledge / understanding of working practice fully recognised and duly taken into account.
In conjunction with the MOM and Maintenance Planner/Project Integrator ensure that new assets are delivered into the maintenance environment with fully completed maintenance plans, appropriate levels of training, handover records and revenue budgets.
In conjunction with the MOM and Maintenance Planner/Project Integrator ensure that existing assets are maintained in line with current maintenance standards, appropriate levels of training, handover records are in place.
Provide weekly/monthly progress reports to the MOM / GM TSD, outlining the operational status of key infrastructure, any and the actions being taken to correct any deficiencies.
This position will entail periods on shift in order to supervise the works of CEL requiring a "hands-on" approach.
Ensure that planned work plans and the associated costs are prepared and that the MOM is effectively supported in agreeing budgets with the GM TSD and / or customers during the budgeting cycle. Subsequently ensure budget plans are converted into the effective and efficient maintenance work programmes.
