Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

TEC Partners are currently working alongside a growing business in the search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take the technical lead on the full lifecycle development of market leading instrumentation.

Based in Cambridge, working in the R&D Function alongside, Electronics Engineers, Physicists, Mechanical Engineers and Software Engineers designing products and redefining an existing product range.

Experience of working with Instrumentation or sensor systems will greatly help your application.

A proactive member of a multi-disciplinary team taking personal and joint responsibility for the success of the projects you are involved in
Generate 3D CAD design concepts for innovative mechanical, electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical systems based on the product specification.
Develop and optimise concepts based on solid engineering principles, laboratory tests and field trial results
Use a 3D CAD system and any associated modelling functions to create detailed design and improvement tasks
Generate clear, detailed and prioritised action plans for product design and improvement tasks
Execute product design and process changes by generating and implementing Engineering Change Notes
Occasionally attend customer sites to understand the use of instruments in real application conditions
Participate in the build and test of components, sub-assemblies and systems; quality meetings and implement agreed actions to maximise production quality and efficiency
On occasions act as Lead Engineer on projects with predominantly Mechanical Design content
