An leader in the manufacture of complex, high speed, telecommunications and optical equipment is now looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding team.
Working within a multi-disciplinary development team, the role spans a conceptual design, analysis, qualification and transfer to production of precision micro-mechanical and optical devices for optical fibre communication systems.
You will be responsible designing and developing core technology for next gen optical switches, whilst also designing and integrating packaging of optical and electrical sub-assemblies.
You will also be required to improve existing products, carry out Ad hoc duties as required and liaise with suppliers and other teams within the company.
You will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a high-tech design/development environment, be an expert in 3D CAD (Preferably SolidWorks), FEA & PDM and be proficient in precision opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical design.
Alongside this you will also have excellent communication skills both written and verbal, be a goal-driven self-starter and be able to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
As the successful candidate you will be educated to a Masters level in Mechanical Design or a related discipline
Ideally you will have a minimum of 5 years Mechanical Design experience, gained within a manufacturing environment.
Ideally with experience designing and developing opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical products
In addition you should be an expert in 3D CAD, FEA and PDM.
