A global insurance provider is looking to recruit an established underwriting professional to manage and lead an established team, focussed on corporate risks in their Birmingham office. The role mixes man-management with technical underwriting and is perhaps ideally for an experienced individual to take the step into leadership.

The Company

·The business is respected both regionally and nationally for its structured, yet optimistic approach to managing big-ticket, often complex/risk managed, corporate property and casualty risks.
·Above target results allow a strong appetite to write business, this is underpinned by solid, structured underwriting disciplines to ensure profitability.

The Role

·You will manage an established team of commercial underwriters, respected in the regional market for their approach to property and casualty cases. Your role is to manage, coach, support and develop the team as well as acting as senior sign off and referral point for larger, more challenging cases.
·The team work with the midlands larger broking houses, dealing with new and existing business and providing winning (often bespoke) solutions for corporate clients.
·This key role reports to the regional management team and contributes to the regional strategy and development, aiming to exceed premium and loss ratio targets.
You

·You will be an experienced P&C Underwriter, possessing either experience of managing staff or the desire to develop your career in that direction.
·You will need strong technical underwriting skills and disciplines as your team play in the corporate space and you will hold senior authority on larger cases.
·Strong negotiation, communication and people skills are also essential for interaction with your team and influencing the broker panel.
·ACII qualification is preferred, but not essential.
