Senior Lecturer, Degree Apprenticeships – Data Science and Mathematics for Computing
QA’s Computing Degree Apprenticeships are a pedagogically innovative, work-based programme that has expanded rapidly since its recent launch. Our degree apprentices work for varied clients including FTSE100 businesses, central government departments, wider public sector organisations and small technology companies. The Apprenticeship division is part of QA, the UK’s leading provider of IT and business services training and education. Our multi-award winning programmes received the highest possible grade by Ofsted, with ‘Outstanding’ in all areas.
As Senior Lecturer, you will be responsible for the progress and academic achievement of degree apprentices on our Cyber Security, Digital & Technology Degree Apprenticeships at Level 6 (undergraduate) and Level 7 (postgraduate). The programme involves a blend of leadership, design and technical skills across Data Science and Maths for Computing subject areas. The role involves innovative approaches to teaching and learning, including blended learning, work based assessment strategies and challenge-based learning designed around the unique opportunities presented by Degree Apprenticeships. It is not expected that the Senior Lecturer can deliver every module in the programme, but will be expected to have a good breadth of skills and knowledge.
The role will require working with the Associate Dean, Director for Degree Apprenticeships and Programme Leaders. We work as a close-knit, broadly self-managed team, sharing teaching experiences and new ideas. We challenge each other and work determinedly and efficiently, to reach ever improving teaching and learning standards and outcomes.
Having a passion for teaching, imparting knowledge and engendering new skills and behaviours, keeping up to date in an ever-changing world, and importantly role-modelling your interest in inquiring into organisations to promote the professional development of our degree apprentices, are all needed for this varied, evolving role.
