Job Title - Senior IT Technician

2nd line In-house support

Main Duties

  • Internal IT issue recording and resolution
  • Field engineer support in relation to IT queries
  • Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications
  • Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
  • Talking staff or clients through a series of actions, either face to face or over the telephone to help set up systems or resolve issues
  • Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults
  • Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports
  • Active Directory/Exchange management
  • Working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate)
  • Prioritising and managing many open cases at one time
  • Rapidly establishing a good working relationship with customers and other professionals
  • Testing and evaluating new technology
  • Solutions delivery and support

Personal Specification

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of operating systems, networking, hardware and software
  • You will possess excellent problem-solving skills
  • You should have the ability to explain problems and solutions clearly to non-technical users
  • An ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • A patient and methodical approach
  • It is essential that you have the ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • You will have an out of the box approach and energy to develop and deliver bespoke systems to enhance IT’s presence
  • You will have a working knowledge of current client and server technologies
  • Ability to develop the role and help support and grow the department
  • Experience running the entire Infrastructure for an SME organisation or working for an IT services
  • Office 365 + Microsoft Exchange
  • Windows Server 2008-2016
  • Other Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, DHCP/DNS, etc.
  • Networking- VPN, Switches, Firewalls etc.
  • Windows Terminal server
  • Veem Backup Recovery
  • NFON phone systems
