Senior Internal Communications Officer

Salary: £28,000 - £35,000
Location: Tunbridge Wells


A great opportunity for an experienced internal communications professional has arisen to work closely (and deputise where necessary) with the Group Head of Internal Communications to support group-wide employee communication initiatives, working with key stakeholders within the business. As part of a dynamic Marketing & Communications team the company is seeking someone with at least 2 years prior experience of marketing communications to take responsibility for key writing projects (including taking editorial and production control of the monthly staff magazine) and high profile employee engagement initiatives. This will suit someone who has experience of in-house or agency Marketing Communications.

Key Skills and Knowledge:

• A graduate with 2-5 year's previous experience of internal communications or marketing communications within a corporate organisation or agency environment.
• Extensive experience of working on managing the editorial and production process of an employee magazine and any or all of the following: regional team newsletters, regular news bulletins, intranet copy, survey/questionnaire content and managing the overall production process behind these initiatives.
• Strong ability and willingness to build-on our existing network of relationships/contacts across the group who can assist in delivery of projects and campaigns as and when necessary.
• Experience of interpreting and managing briefs from clients in the business, and advise on best use of existing channels.
• Strong creative flair: using innovative ways of engaging employees through compelling internal communications when appropriate and in line with Markerstudy house-style' and tone.
• Extensive experience/appreciation of communicating to a diverse workforce within a large organisation ranging from mobile workers (including technical staff) to call centre employees to maintenance personnel, catering staff and aviation staff etc.
• Agency management experience: ensuring creative briefs and deadlines are clear, costs are managed effectively and being assertive and proactive when things appear to be slipping.
• A solid understanding of the capabilities of different multi-media/communication technology eg: video, intranet (Sharepoint), social media, e-newsletters, SurveyMonkey (or other survey tools) etc is also desired.
• Demonstrate drive, enthusiasm, commitment, a willingness to learn and be able to use their own initiative to support the Head of Internal Communications as well as the wider Marketing & Communications team.

Essential Skills:

• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Attention to detail and strong proof-reading abilities.
• Works proactively with initiative and self-motivation.
• Strong knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and accurate typing skills.
• Intermediate Excel knowledge and familiarity with Sharepoint, Adobe Acrobat Professional and Photoshop would be an advantage.
• Works efficiently to a deadline, often managing multiple deadlines simultaneously.

Desirable Skills NOT Essential:

• An understanding of the insurance industry
• Experience of any specific employee engagement/internal CRM tool such as Newsweaver
• Experience of HTML/web content management tools such as SharePoint
• Any communications/marketing related degree or professional journalist/PR qualification
• A full UK driving licence and access to a car would be helpful in order to attend the occasional off-site meeting or event.
