Salary up to £46,723

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week

Location: Northampton based

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Infection prevention and Control team for an enthusiastic, proactive and motivated nurse with post registration experience to take up a role within the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) based within St Andrews Healthcare.

The individual will be supported by the Deputy Director of IPC and will share the IPC workload with the IPC nursing team. The post holder will be required to ensure policies are up to date and adhered to by staff by carry out audits and risk assessments. They will conduct alert organism and mandatory surveillance and manage relevant projects, provide support to clinical areas and give expert advice to all areas of the Charity on all aspects of Infection prevention and Control to ensure the prevention of healthcare associated infection. The successful candidate must be able to provide good clinical leadership and possess excellent communication and teaching skills and be able to represent the team at meetings, training and educational events, challenging poor practice and promoting best practice appropriately. Attendance at external networking events and liaison with the wider health community is required.

The Role

We are looking for Band 7 equivalent nurse leader to join our team at St Andrews Healthcare to support the delivery of a high quality proactive IPC service. You will inspire and motivate others, and act as a role model and a professional source of advice for staff, patients, relatives and members of the public when required. You will be confident in using evidence based IPC and in challenging and innovating practice to ensure safe service delivery and to support our staff to maintain high standards in IPC, ensuring that IPC remains a highly visible service and an integral part of a robust patient safety programme.

You will be a registered nurse with at least 5 years post registration experience, and have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Infection Prevention job where you have demonstrated developed skills and expertise working in this specialist role. You must be able to show evidence of post registration professional education at degree level or above and have undertaken specialist training to at least diploma / degree level in Infection Control.

The positions will involve providing strong leadership to support both the national and local infection prevention agenda, whilst acting as a resource and role model for evidence–based practice.
