Senior HR Generalist - Hemel Hempstead ( 12 month FTC )

As Senior HR Generalist you will be based in our office in Hemel Hempstead but will support other sites and divisions across the South East as required. Efficiently and professionally support the Company’s HR Function in line with key business objectives, helping to make the HR Department a highly cost-effective, valued and well regarded resource for managers, employees and associates alike. We seek an ambitious HRG looking to drive improvements and enact change within the framework of an ongoing Ulrich model transformation. The Senior HR Advisor will support a division of 150 - 200 employees, including 20 line managers. The role will support a variety of business areas including Sales, Service, Support, IT, Marketing, Customer Service, Corporate, Service & Logistics. What will you do?

  • Provide advice, support, coaching and feedback to managers on talent management activities including performance management, training and development, organisational capability assessment, organisational change programmes, strategy and planning

  • Support managers to facilitate effective leadership and team

  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition Platform to drive sourcing and recruitment strategies and processes including review and approval of requisitions.

  • Provide a dedicated HR advisory service for a range of employment and employee relations matters including conduct and capability, grievance and disciplinary matters, redundancy and restructuring, absence and health issues, and family friendly policies.

  • Support managers with the performance review process, including identifying and developing promotable talent.

  • Prepare HR Management Information to gain greater insight into the trends and to support continuous improvement in the management and monitoring of sickness absence, performance, retention etc.

  • Prepare Occupational Health management referral paperwork and provide advice to Managers and Environmental Health & Safety as necessary.

  • Actively participate in country HR Meetings and projects to share best practices and contribute to the improvement and development of UK wide HR policies, processes and harmonization activity.

  • Support with activities that promote and maintain a culture of diversity, inclusion and customer excellence across the UK sites.

  • Any other duties as required from time to time, commensurate with the post-holder’s abilities, experience and authorities.

  • Who we are looking for:

  • Demonstrate appropriate interpersonal and communication skills;

  • Proven generalist HR experience at senior advisor level; or HR Manager in a smaller business

  • Understanding and practical application of UK Employment legislative framework

  • Evidence strong experience in HR processes and procedures, e.g. Performance management, restructuring, redundancy, TUPE and harmonization activity, Talent selection, leavers, absence management etc.;

  • Ability to research, analyse and reason logically within tight and conflicting time frames;

  • Ability to embrace and manage change in a fast paced environment

  • Proven ability to navigate and manage employee relations issues.

  • Ability to identify development needs and suggest appropriate resources and solutions;

  • Experience of working effectively in teams;

  • Intermediate level Microsoft skills in Excel, Word, Outlook and Internet;

  • CIPD Qualified or equivalent experience.

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent

  • Ability to navigate complex matrix structure organisational relationships. Confident in collaborating and Stakeholder engagement and communication

  • Travel to other Thermo Fisher Scientific sites may be required within the UK.
