Senior GC-MS Analyst

Location: Hertfordshire

Our client is an analytical company based in Hertfordshire and the company is now looking to employ a Senior GCMS analyst to join their fast-paced analytical laboratory. The successful candidate will be joining the company on a permanent basis.

The role:

In the role as the Senior GCMS Analyst you will be reporting to the GC Section Head and you will be directly managing a team of Chemists. You will also be responsible for the troubleshooting and maintenance of the instruments and the analytical methods. Along with this, you will have various technical and managerial duties including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Managing a team of analysts and technicians
  • Analysing samples using GCMS
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical equipment
  • Analysing data
  • Involved in analytical method development
  • Working in a high throughput environment ensuring the team meets tight deadlines
  • Analysing difficult matrices

Experience expectations:

Suitable applicants will have;

  • Experienced manager of GC-MS department
  • Significant industry experience working in an analytical laboratory using GC-MS
  • Experience developing methods for GC-MS in addition to experience operating, maintaining and troubleshooting the instrumentation
  • Worked with LLE and SPE
  • Demonstrated an ability to manage customer needs
  • Previous experience working in an environmental laboratory
  • Experience working in an ISO17025 accredited laboratory is essential
  • Educated to at least BSc level in relevant scientific subject eg Chemistry
