Senior Forwarding Import Operator

A new position is available for this small, established forwarding agent for an experienced import forwarding candidate with knowledge of Customs entries, air and/or seafreight knowledge. Excellent progression and future prospects are available.

Nice working environment, small friendly team.

M-F, 9-5.30, up to £30k dep on relevant experience.

Job Role

Reports to: Operations Manager

Responsible for the end-to-end management of Import process.

Main duties / responsibilities:

Produce job quotations on in-house system to agreed timescales and targets

100% quotes on Boxtop

Maintain contact with the customer / overseas agents throughout process:

Reduce information gaps for customer

Maintain contact with suppliers, i.e. hauliers:

Coordinate with other hubs (Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow) and exchange data

Arrange collections and delivery from airline (haulier)

Manage Proof of Delivery (PODs)

Track and trace shipment, advising client of delays/issues

Initiate negotiations for reduced costs with suppliers

Book in freight to warehouse accurately

Record Supplier failures accurately on Boxtop:

Enter Customs data onto Boxtop and e-customs in compliance with the HMRC Best Practise Guide

Provide clear guidelines for customers

Invoicing:

Job costing:

Job costs should be accrued accurately

Sales invoices should be raised accurately

Accruals and invoicing out to be processed in a timely fashion according to current operating procedure

Reconcile and pass duty and VAT in correct months - investigate, reconcile, understand anomalies

Reconcile and pass supplier invoices for payment - prioritise if requested by Accounts Team

Reconcile and pass import CASS for timely payment
