As the Senior FGC Co-ordinator, you will take the lead in supporting the FGC Co-ordinators on a day-to-day basis, ensuring all requests for FGCs are processed in a timely manner and authorised to a high standard.  

You will lead the work on creating and delivering training on family networks, family finding and family group conference services to the wider workforce. As well as this, you will take part in case discussions, partner meetings, performance meetings and take the lead in maintaining our accreditation with the Family Rights Group. You will do this by contributing to service strategies, policy and procedures, working closely to support the Team Manager whilst building relationships with internal and external partners to ensure that children and their families receive FGCs in a timely manner that are purposeful and used to support the family.  

You will be responsible for motivating and developing your team, colleagues, and partners in implementing the approach of putting families and wider networks first across their work. Your professional leadership and support will help them deliver safe practice and effectively engage family networks that create safety by reducing or managing risk effectively. You will be a skilled communicator with the ability to build purposeful working relationships, ensuring that there is close working and cooperation between Early Help services, social care colleagues and our community partners.

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  • A working knowledge of Family Group Conferences and legislation, including our statutory responsibilities for the local authority
  • Previous experience of delivering training and taking part in case discussions
  • An ability to demonstrate significant experience, knowledge, and a proven track record in a senior position
  • A commitment to working in partnership to support our children, young people and families
  • Passionate, solution focused approach
  • Experience of integrating approaches such as FGC into wider service areas.
  • A Level 4 qualification in a related field

The post is currently based in Quadrant Court, Woking with the FGC team covering the whole of Surrey. Therefore, the ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day/week/weekend is essential, as is a full driving licence and access to a car.
