Your new role
As a Senior Facilities and Operations Administrator the main purpose of this role will be to To manage the department's facilities teams to ensure:
- Effective management of facilities and operations services in Computer Science buildings (including security, estates, and space management)
- Operational activities to support customer-oriented services, e.g. receptions for each of the buildings
- Planning and managing premises-related projects, including liaison with the university's Project Office, contractors, building users, managers, collaborators and other stakeholders;
- Budget management, including the departmental running cost budget plus other budgets within this post's remit;
The Senior Facilities and Operations Administrator leads on building and facilities matters, working closely with the Staffing and Facilities Manager and Departmental Space Committee to oversee the development and management of the department's existing and future Estate, optimising and maximising space and making best use of facilities and equipment in line with the strategic objectives of the Faculty. Other duties include :
Project management of refurbishments, minor works and building faults - all ad hoc and planned projects as required, carrying out pre- and post- inspections of work to establish resource needs, briefs, priorities, working methods and approval of completed works.
Building services - working closely with Estates project managers and service providers (e.g. cleaning, waste management, security); monitoring service providers' performance on site; contributing to the drafting of service specifications, project briefs etc.; and proactively developing and maintaining effective customer/stakeholder relationships through a network of key contacts.
Space management - working closely with the HoD, departmental Space team, Faculty Manager and School Estates Strategy Manager, to oversee the development and management of the Department's existing and future Estate, providing best practise in the utilisation of space and making best use of facilities and equipment in line with the strategic objectives of the Faculty.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will need to hold a BIFM qualification also have a strong background in working within a similar role. You will also need to have the ability to think strategically and manage several tasks at any one time, as well as having excellent verbal and written communication skills (including accurate grammar, spelling and punctuation).
