Senior Economist - Director
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Economist to join our Policy and Research team to work across our UK market.
We are recruiting an Associate Director with the option of an office base in either London, Birmingham or Leeds. This is a permanent and full-time position although part-time hours will be considered.

About the role
Ecorys has an opportunity for an experienced economist to join our multi-disciplinary team of economists, social policy researchers and policy specialists. The role is focused on developing our portfolio of studies and evaluations for UK Government clients, including Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Department for International Development, Department for Education, Department for Work and Pensions, Lottery Funds, Charities and Local Government. The successful candidate will lead consultancy research and evaluation projects in our core economics market areas such as private sector development, employment and labour markets, skills. They will also lead and contribute to economic evaluations and value for money studies in a range of social policy areas including education, health, wellbeing, integration and community development. As well as applying economic evaluation approaches including cost benefit analyses, cost effectiveness analyses and value for money assessments the candidate will support the company’s methodological developments and thought leadership in the economics field.
Critically, you will lead the design and development of economics approaches and reporting, and oversee colleagues to support the further development of our economics work allowing for broader career progression as the delivery of the function grows.
A DBS check may be required as well as some domestic and international travel.
The ideal person
You will be an expert in economics with in-depth knowledge of public policy clients and markets, in social as well as economic policy fields. You will have expertise in designing and implementing research, utilising qualitative and quantitative research methods as well as being able to design and implement a range of monitoring and evaluation approaches. You will have a numerate degree and ideally Masters degree in economics, econometrics, maths, research methods or related subjects. In addition to strong technical skills, you will need to be equally enthusiastic about business development with a proven track record in tender-writing and winning new business. You will be confident with building and maintaining relationships with clients and our large multidisciplinary and multicultural research teams. An excellent level of written English and strong presentation skills are essential. An ability to convey complex information in an accessible way is essential.
