Role:

Experienced journalist required for Oath’s Yahoo Finance business to lead Yahoo’s economics and Brexit coverage. This is a permanent role, London-based. Competitive salary and benefits.

Yahoo Finance is building its European news operations and is investing in starting up a London hub for its Finance team.

What you’ll be doing!

  • Write stories on the UK economy, as well as Brexit-related topics;

  • commission, produce, present and edit video and audio packages;

  • take part in live daily broadcasts for European and North American audiences;

  • ensure through use of contacts that Yahoo Finance has the best economics coverage for its highly engaged audience; and, through skilled use of SEO,

  • promote this material to ensure it reaches the widest audience.

What you will bring!

  • You have an understanding of the economic issues facing Britain and Europe, including as a result of the Brexit vote and negotiations, and a demonstrable track record in breaking economic news.

  • You have experience of creating, producing, and presenting live video packages and audio podcasts, as well as filing timely short written pieces in a fast paced digital environment.

  • You have an understanding of how to present European issues to a North American audience.

  • You will have extensive contacts in the City of London and in Brussels.

  • A first degree is Journalism, and an MBA is strongly preferred.

  • You will have experience in a broadcast environment, and multi-platform digital experience is essential.

  • A background in writing copy and producing audio and video for a North American audience is advantageous.

  • The ability to read and analyse balance sheets is a must, and a working knowledge of financial databases such as FactSet is desirable.
