About the team:

The pharmacy team is an award winning, pioneering department that has been a leader in the implementation of several IT solutions, based primarily at Springfield Hospital in Tooting. Our team is dedicated, dynamic and committed to providing quality care and we are looking for a like-minded individual to join us. Our pharmacy service does not currently work weekends, bank holidays or late duty shifts.

About the role:

We are looking for a forward-thinking, enthusiastic and motivated Senior Dispensing Assistant to join our friendly pharmacy team based at Springfield Hospital in Tooting.

The Senior Dispensing Assistant will assist with the dispensing and supply of medicines to inpatients, outpatients and community mental health teams. They will participate in the medicines supply and topping up service at ward/team base level when required. Other roles include the receipt, processing, storage, safe and secure handling and stock control of medicines and other supplies at department level. They will be expected to respond to enquiries and requests from staff, patients and carers as appropriate and ensure information is readily available for patients and carers.

You should have experience of working as a qualified Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant, of using computer systems for dispensing and stock control and have good communication, organisational and excellent general IT skills, as the department aspires to a paper free environment. You will need to be adaptable to new situations, conscientious, have good attention to detail, excellent communication skills and be able to work alone and as well as part of a team prioritising the workload to ensure the needs of the patients, service and pharmacy are met in a timely manner.

This post would suit somebody with either a hospital pharmacy background, or with community pharmacy experience wishing to make a change into the hospital environment, for which appropriate training will be provided.

You must have successfully achieved the relevant units of pharmacy services skills NVQ level 2 (QCF) or an equivalent GPhC accredited training programme.

About the location:

Our pharmacy department is located within the impressive grounds of Springfield University Hospital in Tooting and the Trust also operate in nearly 100 other locations throughout the UK. The site is easily accessible via the Northern Line (Tooting Bec Station) and via private transport. The Trust provides subsidised parking fares for all our substantive staff. Our main site is located immediately next to Tooting High Street where staff can easily access a range of amenities including shops, cafés and restaurants.

This role may require visits across Trust sites including:

Queen Mary’s Hospital (SW15), Springfield Hospital (SW17), Tolworth Hospital (KT6) and community teams across South West London.
