Senior Development Nurse (Nurse Education) (subject to job evaluation) Band 8a
It is an exciting time for post compulsory and 16 + education and there are many education and training routes available for those interested in working in the NHS; particularly health and social care. The plan is to create a health and care academy for those who have shown an interest in working in health and social care in the NHS though 'insight' or work placements and are studying on an access or equivalent course.
We want a dynamic, self-motivated and committed registered nurse who has a passion for education and training. As Senior Development Nurse (Nurse Education) at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust you will be joining a dynamic team and be responsible for developing Phase One of our new Health and Care Academy with the Associate Director of Nurse Education. You will lead on the development of a suitable pathway for college students and trainees that will meet the academic requirements of local universities. The role offers the chance for professional development and you will also be instrumental in being part of a new venture to help college students who want to be the next generation of health and social care professionals.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate extensive pre-registration education and experience within their sphere of practice and strong effective clinical and managerial leadership. The person will need to be flexible and self-motivated.
The role requires excellent communication, teaching, leadership, negotiation and influencing skills so that the post holder can initiate and manage The Academy and work collaboratively with further education college partners, multi-professional clinical and education teams. The role will be challenging and rewarding as you develop and deliver high quality education and training in practice settings and liaise with local colleges.
The post holder will be responsible for: leading on the development of the new academy -Phase One; providing placement experiences for college students and trainees and managing and evaluating the work of The Academy. The successful candidate will work closely with the Associate Director of Nurse Education to help develop and deliver the trusts new academy agenda. They will also support the Associate Director of Nurse Education in implementing the Nursing Research Strategy.
This position is a one year fixed term contract and is suitable as a secondment which candidates will need to discuss with their line manager. There may be an opportunity for this post to be extended for another year. The post is ideal for someone who wants to be instrumental in helping to develop the next generation of health care professionals through working with students and trainees studying at our local colleges. The fixed term will be from approximately October/November to October/November 2021. The successful candidate will be based at Swandean and will be expected to travel across the Trust in order to work directly with clinical and local college teams.
The working hours of this role will be required to match university teaching days and their working times of 9-5 during term time. During the academic holiday periods there may be some flexibility but there will still be a requirement that the post holder is available to provide training days 'in house' which are normally 9-5
