Senior Credit Analyst – Data Engineering/Data Architecture
Help us stay one step ahead
This is a relatively new team, focused on identifying and prioritising areas where debt can be prevented before it arises, with significant scope for impact.
In this role you will work with the operational business to understand their needs and translate these needs into analytical problems and then solutions.
As a wider area we have end to end ownership of projects: from investigating raw data, acquiring external data, making data pipelines, deploying a model to production and designing trials. In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute your ideas and expertise to help shape each of these areas.
You will also play a key role in demonstrating the value of data products, data derived insights and data driven decision making to business stakeholders by telling engaging, audience-tailored stories through the development of exciting, interactive data visualisations and presentations.
Our perfect candidate will be someone who is passionate about data with extensive experience in developing data sets suitable for data modelling, mining and production. You will also have significant experience within a data rich environment and a proven track record of applying analytics to complex problems. Our data is extensive and complex and therefore you will be relied upon to make recommendations to improve our data reliability, efficiency and quality.
We use SQL for manipulating our data so you will need to have experience using this tool in order to fulfil the role. Our wider team use R for modelling and as part of the job you will get the opportunity to learn this tool for solving analytical problems and creating predictive models.
You will have the opportunity to influence company wide processes, policies and implementation plans (including our smart meter roll-out) with a view to reducing new debt inflows, increasing sustainable earnings and ensuring our customers are treated fairly.
As this is such a collaborative role, it’s vital that you can explain technical data clearly and interpret results in a meaningful and concise way. You’re going to be working with senior-level stakeholders and other analysts across the business so confidence, pragmatism and strong influencing skills are a must. You should be an excellent relationship builder; someone who can mentor and motivate others whilst also driving your own progression and taking your skills to the next level.
What we need from you:
- Experience manipulating large and complex data sets.
- Significant experience in SQL, ideally Oracle/ANSI.
- Experience maintaining, improving and cleaning data.
- Significant commercial experience or a degree in a numerate discipline – you’ll certainly need to have an A-level in Maths (or equivalent qualifications).
- The ability to identify and solve problems by applying a creative, highly analytical approach and introducing imaginative solutions where no previous framework exists.
- Curiosity, scepticism and attention to detail regarding data, data quality, samples, bias etc.
- A creative mindset to contribute new ideas that will revolutionise the business.
- Excellent communication skills – you’ll be able to summarise complex information for audiences at all levels and from a range of backgrounds.
It would be great if you had
- A background in credit risk
