NHBC has a unique opportunity available for a Senior Communications Manager to join the team based in Milton Keynes. You will join the team on a 1 year Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover) and we will be offering a salary of £45,500 - £49,000 per annum.
Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Media and PR team, acting as deputy for the Head of Corporate Communications and contributing to the development of the high-level strategies of the department.
The Senior Communications Manager role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a fast-paced Media and PR team and will take the lead on media crisis and issues management, identifying and mitigating reputational risks, demonstrating an acute understanding of the priorities of the business, the wider industry and political context.
In addition, you will coordinate and oversee creative and effective national PR campaigns across all areas of NHBC, planning resources and timings effectively to proactively support business requirements and objectives. You will also oversee NHBC’s social media presence to protect and enhance NHBC’s reputation and to develop/maximize our profile via social media platforms.
You will contribute to the development of strategies underpinning the department’s work and your high-level communications advice and guidance will support senior management. You will also support the HOCC in speech writing, scripting and presentations.
You will develop and maintain excellent working relationships across the business, as well as with members of the press and other external stakeholders.
Managing the incumbent PR agency on a day-to-day basis, you will work with them to define and achieve PR objectives across corporate, consumer and trade & technical audiences.
Our ideal Senior Communications Manager
The role requires a highly experienced communications professional with an excellent track record in Media and PR.
You will be a first-class communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, able to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities confidently and with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
You will have substantial experience of working in media and PR teams, and be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the current and emerging media landscape in relation to both traditional and digital/social media
You will have demonstrable experience of line management and leading and developing a team.
You will have significant experience of leading on crisis and issues management at a national press level, able to make complex decisions and judgements under pressure, identifying and mitigating risk.
Results driven, you will have a proven track record in devising and overseeing successful and creative PR and media campaigns across a range of channels, creating and identifying opportunities for proactive activity
You will have superb copywriting and editing ability for news releases, features, statements, articles, and presentations
