Senior Clinical Fellow in Head and Neck and Airway Anaesthesia

SENIOR CLINICAL FELLOWS IN HEAD AND NECK/ ADVANCED AIRWAY ANAESTHESIA

Employer: Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

Department: Anaesthetics, Charing Cross Hospital

Location: London

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is an Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) and the largest Trust in the country. Our mission is to provide world-class healthcare for our patients, through excellence in research, education and training.

Applications are invited for a 6 to 9-month fellowship programme in Head and Neck/ Airway anaesthesia at Charing Cross Hospital. One fellowship post is available from Nov 2020. Start dates after this time will also be considered. This post is ideally suited to Specialist Registrars, with an interest in head and neck anaesthesia, approaching the end of their training, or an anaesthetist who has completed their training and is looking to round off their sub-specialty experience prior to securing a consultant post.

The clinical duties would cover the advanced airway management/ head and neck curriculum of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Additionally, one day a week is dedicated to fellows undertaking activities that enhance their non-clinical skills such as education, research, quality improvement and publication preparation. This time can also be used to further clinical activities elsewhere in the Trust or at other hospitals.

As a Senior Clinical Fellow, the post holder will take part in a 1 in 8 senior tier on-call rota alongside other clinical fellows and senior trainees. This is however subject to change depending on demands placed upon our department from the evolving Covid-19 pandemic.

Applicants are required to have completed the FRCA or equivalent qualification and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in anaesthesia and intensive care in a structured training programme. In addition to their protected training lists, fellows will be expected to be able to independently manage their own lists supervised by a consultant in a nearby theatre.

This post is initially for a 6-month period although can be extended by mutual agreement if required.

Only online applications will be considered. We would encourage prospective applicants to read the job description including the person specification carefully to ensure they fulfill the minimum essential criteria before applying for this post.
