Building expertise in international / global recruitment continues to have an increasing focus for our human resources, service manager and clinician teams in their efforts to address recruitment and retention workforce challenges as well as the emerging risks associated with attracting and retaining high calibre health care professionals who have trained both within EEA and non-EEA countries.

The NHS in Scotland is committed to supporting and expanding further international recruitment programmes. A key initiative to support this is the establishment of a new NHS Scotland International Recruitment Unit hosted within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Human Resources and Organisational Development function.
In addition to building capacity to support international candidate attraction programmes the International Recruitment Unit is expected to become a driving force in influencing the establishment of bespoke candidate aftercare services to ensure that all stages of relocation and transition into Scotland is recognised as an exceptional experience for candidates and their families.
We are now seeking to recruit a dedicated and skilled Senior Candidate Engagement Officer who will report and work proactively with the International Recruitment Manager to help ensure that this new service meets its’ international recruitment targets.

Highly experienced in client management within recruitment, human resources or relocation / destination service organisations the successfully appointed individual will recognise the priority for overseas candidates to be comfortable, confident and well researched on all aspects of their transition into their new post, their new work environment and the community which they and their family will settle.

As the main point of contact for candidates you will have first class customer service skills and offer a confidential, flexible and sensitive approach in supporting relocation to Scotland. Working with a wide variety of agencies, you will have strong negotiation and organisational skills.

We are seeking an influential player who will impact and challenge conventional approaches to the deployment of international recruitment marketing campaigns and candidate engagement strategies as well as being comfortable interacting with a diverse and often very senior audience both within and out with NHS Scotland.

We are looking for a proactive, resourceful and driven professional who can very quickly apply their creativity in managing at scale the relocation and mobility of new or existing employees. As a senior member of the newly formed International Recruitment Unit team you will come with the ambition to develop a best in class service for international health care professionals joining the NHS in Scotland.

In depth knowledge and experience of designing and delivering to high volume recruitment programmes across NHS staffing groups particularly Nursing and Medical specialties is desirable as is the ability to demonstrate knowledge of applying expertise in a number of areas e.g. NHS recruitment and employment compliance, immigration policy and the regulatory and educational requirements for international health care professionals seeking professional registrations with NHS regulatory bodies.

To be considered for this role it is expected that candidates will hold a Graduate Level Qualification in a relevant subject with proven experience operating at a senior level in an operational recruitment and or human resources role or will have gained their experience through a specialist role in international / global recruitment or employee mobility roles.
