Montagne Jeunesse is a UK based FMCG cosmetics Company who have been in business and growing for 30 years. We specialise in natural, vegetarian skincare sachets with distribution channels in over 90 countries. We are seeking an internationally experienced Senior Buyer who will report directly into the Operations Director and have responsibility for ethically sourcing, negotiating and purchasing components, raw materials and creative packaging solutions from around the world as well as monitoring and staying ahead of industry trends by continuously sourcing innovative new finished goods, packaging and materials globally. There is some international travel involved in this role particularly to the Far East.

Main Responsibilities

Proactively manage supplier relationships and performance.

Develop and take ownership of sourcing strategies for direct materials (raw materials / packaging).

Negotiate product costs & MOQ’s ensuring they are within agreed margin guidelines, and stock targets.

Manage all year-round demand for trials, new products and replenishment programs.

Create and maintain a database of various suppliers that can be used in the future for new products, second sourcing and alternate supply.

Direct link between Brand team, Private label manager and Supply Chain, ensuring all product/stock/supplier decisions are communicated to the teams in a timely manner.

Track, understand and predict commodity price movements to feed in to the budget and purchasing strategies.

Work with NPD team (New Product development) to ensure products go on trial to ascertain sales viability.

Ensure sourced products (where applicable) meet all EU cosmetic regulations 1223/2009 together with strict Company brand ethics.

Source new packaging suppliers to meet the changes required to move the Company forward.

Auditing of new suppliers in collaboration with colleagues in the Operations department.

Support and work closely with the Operations Director.

Key KPI’s/Deliverables

Ensure supplier performance KPIs are above targeted levels.

Margin improvement through negotiation and value engineering.

Stock Target.

Reduction of Slow Moving Obsolete Stock to agreed level.

Improvement of supplier terms/lead times/cost.

Contract negotiations, ensuring risk is mitigated.

Ensure regulatory compliance for out sourced products.

All suppliers and products to meet company ethical position.

Essential Skills and Experience

Ideally 'degree’ level education in a business or commercial discipline or equivalent.

CIPS Educated or working towards CIPS (or equivalent) may be seen as an advantage.

Previous experience as an autonomous buyer in sourcing/purchasing or supply chain/manufacturing.

Entrepreneurial and resourceful together with a high level of commercial acumen.

Previous evidence of strong negotiation skills.

Strong cross-functional working ability and confident to operate with stakeholders to Director level.

Industry knowledge of the health and beauty sector will be seen as a significant advantage.

Experience in international and particularly in the Far East supply chain.

Other

This role requires periodic travel throughout the UK and abroad as required. Regular visits to the Company’s base in Horsham, West Sussex will be required.
