Senior Business Intelligence Developer

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Business Intelligence Developer within PRS for Music. The Senior BI Developer will primarily focus on the delivery and support of enterprise-level applications in the Business Intelligence and Data Analytics arena (vary depending on the project). You must be able to take a lead role on projects that utilise products within the Microsoft BI Stack, as well as being able to produce core SQL components independently using existing objects and code. You must be engaged throughout the whole Business Intelligence Lifecycle and have the ability to anticipate future needs and challenges.

As part of the Business Intelligence Team, you will have responsibility for the development, maintenance, integration and data governance at PRS on systems including;

  • Azure Data Warehouse
  • SQL Server IaaS
  • Power BI
  • SSAS Multi-Dimensional
  • SSAS Tabular
  • Oracle databases

In this role, you will be required to support all levels of development activity, from requirements analysis through to implementation and support, as well as contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the BI assets, including performance tuning reporting queries as well as data integration (validation and cleaning). The successful applicant will be expected to assist in supporting production applications (within business hours), be able to contribute to the architecture of the BI Solution, write advanced queries to extract results from relational databases and become an expert in the business data models.

You must be willing and able to interact with end users to establish their requirements and develop or enhance solutions. Alongside this, the successful candidate must be comfortable as acting as a team mentor, be able to develop and establish strong and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and have the ability to create and maintain a well-structured environment through development of standards and procedures. From this, applicants must have excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills to work closely with team members on mission critical systems.

It is expected that applicant will possess strong problem solving and analytical skills, and must be able to effectively communicate, both verbal and written, with both technical and non-technical people. You need to have a knowledge of and passion for technology and an understanding current affairs in the BI space. If you wish to apply for this role, you must have strong experience with the Microsoft BI stack and exposure to other technologies such as Oracle. Other desirable technical skills include:

  • Thorough understanding of SQL Server architecture
  • Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) using SSIS
  • Data Warehouse / Solution Design and Dimensional Modelling (Kimball Methodology)
  • OLAP Cube Development (SSAS and MDX)
  • Tabular Model Development (SSAS and DAX)
  • Report Development using Power BI or SSRS
  • Exposure to C#/VB .Net in an enterprise environment
  • Working in an Agile development team
