Our client has enjoyed dramatic expansion due to moving into new sectors and increasing their market share in the sectors they are well known for. The Bid Team are central to their success and they are now adding new posts to create more support and oversight.

The Role

**This is a home working role**

This position manages one of two small teams of Business Development Partners and Bid Writers within the Commercial team. You will work closely with your counterpart Senior BDP and Head of Bid Management to ensure a consistent approach across the Business Development team.

As Senior member of the team you will work with Senior operational colleagues and Business Area Leads to evaluate business growth opportunities and develop propositions.

You can expect to lead and manage bids and proposals, gaining agreement on commercial models and service design and ensuring that they are correctly submitted and the highest quality.

Duties

Lead, manage and develop a team of Business Development Partners and Bid Writers, not least through the setting of clear objectives and enabling delivery through teamwork across the Commercial Directorate and wider group.

Take responsibility for the day-to-day line management of the Business Development Partners and Bid Writers within their team.

Working with managing directors, operational leads and senior operational staff to ensure agreed growth objectives and targets are met.

Contributing to maintaining the group opportunities pipeline, attending review meetings to ensure operational input to any bid/no bid decision.

Work to agreed business development plans and achieve set business growth targets through successful bidding and development activities.

Lead on researching, managing, quality assuring and submitting high quality bids and proposals in line with the both the growth plans and the Group business growth strategy. The role involves both bid management and quality assurance duties.

Overseeing and facilitating (where relevant) the running of focus groups and development workshops with operational colleagues, service users, partners and other stakeholders to:

Gain knowledge and understanding of market and customer requirements.

Test new ideas and concepts.

Develop methods of delivery, delivery models and customer journeys.

Working collaboratively with the Research and Development team, Commercial Partnerships team and operational teams to develop service models, products and innovations for bidding opportunities building on research and development work already completed.

The Person

Experience of leading a team to achieve set objectives and targets. (E)

Experience of managing staff, adhering to corporate policies. (D)

A proven track record of success in competitive tender / bid writing leading to securing strategic, high value (£5m+) government funded or commercial contracts within service or people focused sectors (E)

Recent and relevant subject knowledge of service delivery in one or more of the following areas: employability, learning and skills, education, justice, children’s services, mental health and wellbeing, charitable and social enterprise (E)

Current awareness of policy agenda in relation to publicly funded services (E)

An underpinning understanding of cross-cutting third sector funding issues (E)

A proven track record of building effective client relationships which result in new business (D)

Understanding of UK commissioning landscapes, including Devolution Agenda, Devolution Deals and how this will impact on public service delivery (D)

Experience of leading/facilitating service design processes including co-design and co-production with internal and external partners (D)

Skills and Attributes

Excellent written communication skills, capable of producing persuasive, informed and high-quality bids and sales documents. (E)

Able to lead and/or work effectively within a team (including cross-functional and across different organisations), as well as independently. (E)

Able to process and analyse a broad range of data quickly and effectively (E)

Strong problem-solving skills in developing creative and innovative propositions in response to opportunity specifications (E)

Able to build and maintain strong relationships internally and externally, capable of influencing at all levels and unafraid to constructively challenge (E)
