Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is currently undertaking a once in a career transformation of how healthcare will be delivered in South East Wales and we are looking for an exceptional and highly motivated Senior Biomedical Scientist - (Band 7) to join a team providing high quality Microbiology services and to lead on IT for the department.

And here are the essential facts………….

The Department processes a wide variety of clinical samples using both manual and automated methodology. We cover a variety of services, such as Bacteriology, Serology, Mycology, Molecular Diagnostics and Andrology. Microbiology and GU Medicine services are based at Royal Gwent Hospital (Newport), Molecular Services are based at The Grange University Hospital (Cwmbran) and Andrology is based Nevill Hall Hospital (Abergavenny) and you may be required to work at either site according to the demands of the service.

The post is a permanent, full-time Band 7 role, covering 37.5 hours over a 7 day working week. We operate a 24 /7 service, which involves weekend and Bank holiday working. The successful candidate must be able to work autonomously and will be required to partake in all relevant rotas, subject to service need.

Candidates must have extensive practical experience of working within a Microbiology laboratory, and a good depth of knowledge of Microbiology is essential. Previous experience with IT will also be beneficial.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
