Senior Associate, Non-Contentious Construction

Our clients advises on procurement of domestic and international construction and engineering projects.  They also advise on suitable procurement routes, risk allocation and drafting and negotiation of contract documentation, including construction and engineering contracts, consultants' appointment and ancillary documentation such as bonds, guarantees and warranties. Our clients has worked on  projects  acting for developers, funders, contractors and service providers in a range of sectors including mining, renewable and conventional energy, process plant, defence, transport and other social and economic infrastructure. Real estate construction work (be that acting for developers or funders, purchasers and tenants) is also undertaken in the department. 

Representative Experience

Advising a Japanese contractor on the drafting of project agreements for a nuclear new build project in Turkey

Advising a defence contractor in relation to a multi-billion dollar nuclear-power related defence programme, including nuclear liability issues, regulatory requirements and project procurement structuring

Advising Rio Tinto on the Infrastructure and Mining Simandou projects in Guinea and advising on bankability and deal structuring issues associated with the mining agreement with Government and on the multiple EPC contracts, EPCM arrangements and other project documents

Advising the UK Department for Transport on the Intercity Express Programme: the procurement and financing of the £7bn East Coast mainline rolling stock

Advising Shah Deniz Consortium (BP, SOCAR, Statoil, Total and 3 minority parties) on the US$45 billion Shah Deniz Phase 2 Gas Project

Advising Contour Global on the development and project financing of a €1 billion coal fired independent power project (IPP) in Kosovo

Advising a global leading integrated energy company in relation to the LNG to Power Programme in South Africa

Advising IFC and the City of Belgrade in relation to the development of an energy from waste project in Belgrade, Serbia

Candidate Profile

They are looking for an experienced non-contentious construction associate.   Ideally their experience will have been gained at a leading City or US firm. It is essential that the candidate has a strong academic background (minimum 2.1 degree or equivalent) with excellent written communication and drafting skills. The successful candidate will also have outstanding technical skills, together with the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues and work well in a team.  The ideal candidate will have ten years post qualification experience (or equivalent experience). Nuclear experience would be advantageous.
