About the role
As a Senior Analyst, you’ll be playing a key part in supporting the wider Data Democratisation and Analytics team, managing various projects independently.
You’ll work with teams from across the business, defining what their problem is, really understanding what the end goal and bigger picture is and then getting to the bottom of that and establishing what decisions need to be made as a result of the insight you’re able to offer.
Sometimes you’ll need to help stakeholders get to those decisions, using your strong communication and influencing skills.
You’ll be given the opportunity to really change the customer journey online, you’ll do this by applying a logical approach which is backed up by mathematical reasoning. You might feel from the analysis you’ve done that product recommendations should appear in a different area of the customer journey and you’ll then make that suggestion to the relevant team.
On a daily basis you will be interpreting the 'what happens ifs’ that emerge from the analysis you’re doing and sometimes you’ll have to make difficult judgement calls, but you’ll be given the trust and autonomy to do this.
Along with a logical mindset and common sense approach, it’s really important you have strong SQL or SAS experience, as these are the primary ways we interrogate data here at Shop Direct and you’ll be doing that on a daily basis. You’ll be expected to be writing complex code from scratch on day one.
You’ll have had experience of breaking down problems from a bigger picture in to smaller more defined elements and you’ll be confident presenting this to colleagues at all levels.
You’ll be comfortable working in a pacey and ambiguous environment, things change all the time here (being a 24/7 retailer you’re kept on your toes), but you’ll enjoy the surprises and challenges that comes with that!
