Sarah Farrow at CK Science is recruiting for a Senior Analyst to specialise in GC-MS analysis of a diverse range of samples on behalf of an industry leading provider of analytical consultancy services, to be based at their site in Redcar on a permanent basis.

The Company:
Our client is a multinational provider of analytical services, who work on a broad range of exciting, and sometimes technically challenging projects on behalf of clients ranging from blue chip manufacturing companies to SMEs.

Location:
This site is easily commutable from across Teesside, Tyne and Wear and North Yorkshire, and has plenty of free parking available on site.  The on-site facilities include a cafeteria serving hot food, and a gym.

The Role:
The main purpose of the role will be to carry out analysis using GCMS, on samples ranging from pure substance (as part of REACH identity testing) through to technically challenging analysis of low levels of unknown substances in complex matrices.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Development of Gas Chromatography services in response to customer enquiries
- Development, validation and documentation of novel experimental approaches to complex technical problems.
- Carrying out experimental work, interpretation of results and generation of certificates of analysis, in a timely fashion.
- Liasing with project managers to devise scientific and strategic analytical plans.
- Training and mentoring junior staff.

Your Background:
In order to be considered for the position, you should ideally be qualified to a minimum of BSc level, or possess equivalent experience in Chemistry or another relevant subject.  You should have a strong track record of success in the use of Pyrolysis GC-MS, GC-MS or GC-FID for the analysis of samples, and ideally you should have experience of GCMS Method Development or Method Validation.
