Senior Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Representative

The Microbiology Division (MBD) sits within Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Speciality Diagnostic Group. Our customers worldwide trust our microbiology solutions for the diagnosis of infectious disease and detection of bacterial contamination.

Team Overview:

Based at the MBD Global Headquarters in Basingstoke, the UK Accounting Services team ensure that our accounts are kept up to date across the four UK sites (Basingstoke, Dartford, East Grinstead, Perth). The team oversee the general accounting including a high volume of accounts payable and receivable.

The team of 6 is headed by the Accounting Services Manager, with three Accounts Payable/ Accounts Receivable Assistants. The team sit with the wider MBD Finance team providing great opportunity to assist with the wider accounting including intercompany accounting, accruals and month end, statutory and audit work including VAT returns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working within a busy Shared Services environment, you will be responsible for processing and managing all documents within Accounts Payable (AP)

  • You will act as the administrator for company expenses systems and support the AP Inter-Company function

  • You will manage Sterling and foreign currency ledgers including the preparation of all payments through SAP and BACs

  • You will manage communication and payment processes with a range of internal and external stakeholders including the purchasing department and our suppliers

  • You will assist with the accruals and reconciliation processes

Role Requirements:

  • With excellent attention to detail, you are meticulous in your approach and able to identify small errors

  • You are a proactive individual with the ability to use your initiative to find solutions

  • You have excellent stakeholder management skills and utilise this to get the best commercial result

  • You will have experience working in a role with a high volume of invoices and using an AP/ AR software package

Please note that this position is offered as a 12 month fixed term contract.
