I am working with a vibrant Primary school located in a lovely village just outside of Swindon. This school prioritises developing teaching, learning and assessment through excellent professional development, in order for high-quality, enriched curriculum for all pupils, including those with SEND, ensuring they have exceptional standards across the school.

This school has an exciting opportunity for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a key stage 2 pupil with ASD in September. You will play a vital role in a child's educational, emotional and social development, working directly with them on a 1:1 basis. You must be able to provide a calm, consistent and reassuring presence, adapting classroom materials to encourage engagement and proactive learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Adapting lesson materials, making them accessible to the pupil.

  • Providing one to one support during class.

  • Reinforcing learning objectives set by the teacher.

  • Assisting with literacy and numerical tasks breaking them down into more manageable steps.

  • Understanding the individual needs of the pupil to best support them in class.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with SEND children.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with the pupil, parents and colleagues effectively.

  • Patience, empathy and resilience to meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Relevant qualifications and training in supporting children with SEND.

  • An understanding of relevant safe guarding and child protection procedures.
