This academy provides a safe and nurturing environment for over 200 primary & secondary age students who have been unable to sustain a place in mainstream education. By prioritising academic achievement and introducing behaviour interventions and therapeutic support where necessary, it will enable them to re-integrate at the same key stage as their peers, and go on to access opportunities into employment and further education.
Due to expansion, this specialist academy are currently looking for experienced, committed & enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants to join their team on a long term/permanent basis. Your role will mainly involve working 1:1 or 2:1 with young people who have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, mental health needs, ADHD & those who vary right across the autistic spectrum. You will also spend time supporting small groups of young people so the ability to adapt & communicate well is essential for this role.
Because of the unfortunate experiences these young people have faced in the early stages of their lives, it is crucial that you can show empathy, have a passion for supporting those from diverse backgrounds and to have a good understanding of EBD. These young people do range from moderate to severe, so an ability to work with challenging behaviour is desirable.
