Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: East Gristead
Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday (Term-Time Only)
Contract Type: Full-Time

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? A specialist SEN school in East Grinstead is looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team, working in a supportive environment tailored to help each child reach their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your role will include:

  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to children with various special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and other learning or developmental challenges.
  • Assisting the lead teacher with lesson planning, classroom organisation, and adapting learning materials to meet each student's needs.
  • Offering emotional and social support to students, helping them build confidence and independence in a safe and structured setting.
  • Encouraging positive behavior and supporting the development of social, communication, and life skills.
  • Working closely with the teaching team, therapists, and parents to implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans.
What We're Looking For:

To thrive in this role, an SEN Teaching Assistant should have:

  • Experience working with children with SEN or additional needs (preferred but not essential).
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students in their learning journey.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children.
  • A willingness to engage in professional development and training to enhance skills for working in an SEN environment.
