SEN Teaching Assistant required for SEN School in Wakefield

Engage Education are currently working in partnership with a special educational needs school on an exciting new SEN Teaching Assistant position in the Wakefield area.

Starting immediately, the school is looking for an outstanding SEN Teaching Assistant to join them on a permanent basis however this will initially be temporary until the school have completed their own vetting.

The school caters for young people aged 11-16 all of whom have social, emotional, and mental health issues and who require a smaller personalised education environment to that in a mainstream setting.

Your Role:

  • Supporting a learner on a one-to-one basis
  • Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class
  • Providing feedback to teachers and parents
  • You will be assisting pupils with Autism, SEMH, ADHD, Severe Learning Difficulties and other Learning Disabilities

What you will need:

  • A range of behaviour management techniques
  • To have worked with learners with a range of needs
  • The ability to re-engage a young person in learning through a range of methods
  • To be able to commit to working at the school for long period of time
  • A resilient attitude
