SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: North London

£70 a day

We are looking a SEN teacher assistant to help cover in schools within the North area on a temporary basis.

This role is suitable for an individual who has experience working with children that have special needs, learning difficulties or a combination of both.

General Duties

  • Carry out administrative tasks, including updating and maintaining records of pupils progress
  • Attend in-service training
  • Work closely with parents and guardians
  • Mark assess work
  • Prepare lessons and resources
  • Identifying individual needs and being responsible for creating a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use special equipment and facilities, such as audio visual materials and computers to stimulate interest in learning
  • Asses children who have long or short term learning difficulties and work with colleagues to identify individual pupils special needs and behaviour management
  • Organise learning outside the classroom in activities such as community visits, school outings or sporting events
  • Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher to define appropriate activities for the pupils in relation to the curriculum

Must Have:

  • 5 years or more experience
  • An observant and responsive approach
  • Experience in 1-1 teaching support
  • Positive, energetic and enthusiastic outlook
